Easy Christmas recipe for kids - makes 50 crackers

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 150 g plain flour (or wholemeal, spelt, or oat)
  • 15 g nutritional yeast (optional but gives a savoury cheesy note kids love)
  • 1 tsp ground sage
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch salt and pepper (to taste)

Wet ingredients

  • 60 ml olive oil
  • 2-3 Tbsp water (start with 2 Tbsp, and knead together, if its too dry add a little more )

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180c/350f.
  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • Pour in the olive oil and rub it through with your fingers until the mixture looks crumbly.
  • Add the cold water one tablespoon at a time until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough out to 2 to 3 mm thickness (we do this between two silicone baking sheets or baking paper).
  • Cut into festive shapes, or cut into squares for simple crackers.
  • Transfer the cookies to a lined baking tray, and bake for 12 to 14 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Allow to cool completely on the tray so they crisp up properly.

Storage

Store the crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
