If you’ve ever paid $8 for a tiny immunity shot, you’ll know how quickly it adds up. The good news is they’re incredibly simple to make at home, and for a fraction of the cost. This recipe makes around 16 shots for roughly $7.50, using whole ingredients you probably already have on hand.
Making your own also means you can control everything. You can adjust how strong or mild it is, decide whether to strain it or keep the fibre, and make it suitable for little ones too. We personally keep the fibre in because it contains beneficial nutrients and supports digestion, but if you prefer a smoother, juice-style texture, you can absolutely strain it.
Two small additions make a big difference to how effective this recipe is. Turmeric contains curcumin, which is the compound linked to its anti inflammatory benefits, but it is not easily absorbed by the body on its own. Adding black pepper helps significantly increase absorption, while coconut oil provides a source of fat, which further supports this process. Together, they help your body actually use the turmeric rather than just pass it through.
To make this more kid-friendly, we use ground turmeric instead of fresh, as it has a milder flavour, and dilute their portion with extra orange juice. This keeps all the benefits while making it much more palatable for little ones.

Kid-Friendly Immunity Juice
Ingredients
- 2 oranges (peeled)
- 2 lemons (peeled)
- 1 large carrot (chopped)
- 100 g fresh ginger (increase to 150g if you like it spicy)
- 1 tsp ground turmeric (increase to 2-3 tsp if used to this flavour)
- 1/8 tsp black pepper (ground)
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- 250 ml water (or 2 cups if you want it thinner)
Instructions
- Chop your ingredients into smaller pieces to fit in your blender.
- Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until completely smooth.
- Taste and adjust water if needed to reach your desired consistency
- Serve immediately, or pour into small jars or bottles (you can strain at this stage if you prefer) and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also freeze these into ice cubes to use for immunity teas.
- To serve to kids, this is best diluted so they can gradually build up their taste for it - we do this by blending one shot with an extra orange and a splash of water.
Storage
Store in the fridge for 3 days, or freeze in ice cubes to use for tea or smoothies for up to 2 months.Did you make this recipe?
