🌈 SUPER SIMPLE PLAYDOUGH 🌈 This is such a fun, ch 🌈 SUPER SIMPLE PLAYDOUGH 🌈

This is such a fun, cheap, and easy playdough recipe your little ones will be sure to love. And it lasts ages!!

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups/300g of plain flour
3/4 cup/200g of salt (we used regular table samt)
4 tsps of cream of tartar
2 cups/500ml of lukewarm water
2 Tbsp of oil (we used sunflower)

To add the optional colours we added food colours and also mixed them to make other colours eg for purple we added red & blue, for green we mixed blue & yellow. 

HOW TO:
1. Add the flour, salt, and cream of tartar to a large pot, gently stirring to mix the ingredients together. 
2. Then add the water and oil.
3. Place the pot over medium heat and stir continuously, it will thicken quickly (3-4 minutes) and become a large ball. 
4. Scoop the mix out onto a large chopping board and allow to cool for a couple minutes before kneading slightly to form into a large log shape. 
5. Cut in to however many colours you’re after, rolling each to form a ball. Then press a small hole using your finger as a space to add a few drops of each of your food colourings. 
6.  Let it cool slightly, then knead until smooth. For multiple colors, divide the dough into portions and place each in a quart-sized bag. Add about 5 drops of color to each bag (adjust for brightness if needed). Knead inside the bag to avoid staining your hands. Once well mixed, it’s ready for play!

NOTES:
🫙 Store in an airtight container for 3+ months (ours lasted 6 months). If it feels a little dry, add a couple of drops of water & knead in. 

👃 You can add smells by adding a couple of drops of peppermint oil, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, or other options (however if doing this make sure your little ones old enough that they won’t eat it!)

🌈 If you’re only using one colour you can add that in with the water at the beginning of the recipe. 

👋 If you don’t want stains on your hands use gloves or mix in individual zip lock bags (however with a few washes the dye comes off)

Welcome back to Budget Bites: an 8 part series where each week I’m sharing a new recipe recreating kids snacks using healthier and cheaper ingredients than their store bought alternatives.

🍪 2 INGREDIENT SESAME COOKIES 🍪 Vegan 🌱 12+ mont 🍪 2 INGREDIENT SESAME COOKIES 🍪 

Vegan 🌱 12+ months 👶🏼 makes 10 🍪

INGREDIENTS:
1 medium very ripe banana (100g peeled), mashed
1 cup/150g of sesame seeds

Optional: 80g of vegan chocolate (for half the cookies), melted 

HOW TO:
1. Preheat the oven to 180c/350f.
2. Stir together the banana and sesame seeds, then spoon approximately 1 Tablespoon of the mix into cookie shapes on a lined baking sheet, making around 10 cookies. If you’re adding chocolate later then use the back of a Tablespoon to gently press down to create a little dent on however many you like (we did half with and half without).
3. Bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes until lightly golden. 
4. Remove from the oven and leave to cool fully on the tray. 
5. Spoon the melted chocolate in to the dent (if using) and leave to set at room temperature. 
6. Enjoy!

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for two days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.

🍝 Need a nourishing dinner done in 10 minutes? Thi 🍝 Need a nourishing dinner done in 10 minutes? This is for you 🌱

This is PASTA POP: a way to makes weeknight meals possible in 10 minutes. You simply pop out a pasta sauce from the freezer, and warm it up while you boil some pasta. 

You don’t need to cook loads of different meals at once either - when you make a meal/sauce, make enough for another meal or 2 and freeze the leftovers. We use the @seedandsproutco freezer moulds in the 500ml size and find one block is enough sauce for 2 adults and 1 child when paired with 250g of your pasta of choice. 

In this freezer prep there’s: 
🍝 Classic Vegan Bolognese
🤍 Creamy Vegan Cauliflower Alfredo
✨ High protein romesco sauce 
🫜 Iron rich beetroot & cashew pasta
🌱4 bean super greens
