🧚🌸 DIY Real Flower Fairy Wings 🧚🌸 My favourite DI 🧚🌸 DIY Real Flower Fairy Wings 🧚🌸

My favourite DIY to date, & 12’months on they still look new & colourful!

YOU NEED:
1 piece of A4 paper
Collection of flowers & leaves for pressing (plus paper towel, baking paper, & a large microwave-safe dish)
2 A4 laminate pouches
Laminator
Hot glue gun (or super glue)
2 ribbons or 2 strips of elastic to make straps
One wide stick or piece of driftwood

HOW TO:
1. Start by drying the flowers/leaves: fold a piece of baking paper in half (roughly the size of your dish), then place the flowers on one half & cover. Add a layer of paper towel on either side, then press them down with a heavy dish on top. Microwave in 30-second bursts (about 5–10 rounds), opening the microwave between rounds to let steam out & every few rounds lifting the dish to remove steam from the paper, until the flowers are fully dry. The number of rounds depends on how thick/wet the flowers are

2. Draw your wing template: on an A4 piece of paper, draw a wing shape however you like & leave space to add a small rectangle or tab in the middle where the two wings will meet (to glue them together later)

3. Lay a laminating pouch on top of the template on a chopping board, open it, add flowers within the wing space, then laminate & repeat (flip the paper over to create the opposite wing). Trace the outline of the wing with pen, then cut the wings out (stack them on top of each other if you want them perfectly even).

4. Join the wings together with the tabs overlapping using hot glue, then add straps on the same side you’ve glued them together (we made straps using 2 pieces of elastic, folding the ends together to create the loop & sewing them. You can use 2 large ribbons if you prefer tying them on)

5. Flip the wings over & add your piece of driftwood as the centrepiece of the wings to hide the glue & give your wings a rustic, natural look

🧸 BUDGET BITES EPISODE 5: CHOCOLATE TINY TEDDIES 🍫 🧸 BUDGET BITES EPISODE 5: CHOCOLATE TINY TEDDIES 🍫

Welcome back to Budget Bites: an 8 part series where each week I’m sharing a new recipe recreating kids snacks using healthier and cheaper ingredients than their store bought alternatives.

This week we are recreating another nostalgic Aussie snack: Chocolate Tiny Teddies. The store-bought ones are 2.5x the price, have excess packaging, seed oils, emulsifiers, refined sugars, colours and added flavours. Plus they’ve got 14 ingredients compared to our simpler recipe with only 7 simple pantry basics.

They’re fun to make with your kids, you can mix and match the shapes, and they are so simple and quick to whip up.

This is one of our exclusive recipes for our app community, if you’d like the details of it and where you can get not only this recipe, but access to our whole library of 300+ vegan family friendly recipes (with 150+ app exclusives) and more, pop “TEDDY” below and I’ll DM you the link to learn more where you can try it FREE for 7 days 🤍

🍌FROZEN BANANA YOGURT BITES 🍌 12+ months 👶🏼 Makes 🍌FROZEN BANANA YOGURT BITES 🍌

12+ months 👶🏼 Makes 15 slices

These have been one of our favourite snacks over the years & definitely a favourite for those who’ve made these. They’re so simple to make, taste great, and great for teething!

INGREDIENTS:
1 large banana
3 Tbsp of coconut yogurt (plain or vanilla)
1 Tbsp of peanut butter or other seed butter (we use a 100% natural nut butter)
1 Tbsp of hemp or sesame seeds (optional)

How to:
1. Slice a banana into .75-1cm slices (the thicker they are the bigger they will flatten down to).
2. Place the banana slices on a baking tray and then use the bottom of a glass to squash the slices to a few mm thin. If your banana sticks you can place a piece of baking paper between the banana and glass.
3. Spread a little coconut yogurt on each slice
4. Drizzle a little peanut butter over each slice (water down if necessary).
5. Optional: sprinkle some seeds on top
6. Freeze for 1 hour before serving (allow to thaw for a couple minutes before giving to little hands - these soften quickly so keep frozen when not being eaten).

Store in an airtight container in the freezer once fully frozen (so they don’t stick together) for up to 2 months.

👶🏼 BABY BLOCKS: The ultimate way to bulk prep baby 👶🏼 BABY BLOCKS: The ultimate way to bulk prep baby food 🙌🏼

You guys loved “Duplo Dinners” so here’s “Baby Blocks” - something that is going to save you time, money, and your sanity, because cooking a variety of foods every day for a baby isn’t always possible.

This is a simple way to prep and freeze multiple components separately: grains, sauces, proteins, and veggies… like building blocks you can mix and match to create multiple different meals for your baby.

You can do this by filling freezer moulds with leftovers when you cook a meal for the family (make sure it’s in safe sizes and free of salt, sugar, chilli, and caffeine). Our containers are from @seedandsproutco which are the perfect portion size. I find 4 small 50 ml blocks work really well for baby led weaning. Pick what you want, pop them into your glass container, defrost in the fridge overnight or in a pan, and warm it up however you like.

The dishes below work well thinned out as a sauce with pasta or rice, as a puree for scooping, or as a dip with bread. You can also use our favourite trick to increase flavour tolerance: our veggie bean mash, which helps dilute stronger flavours like curry while your baby’s taste buds adapt.

The recipes I made here are:
🍛 Lentil Dahl
🫜 Creamy Beet and Cashew Sauce
🎃 Roasted Pumpkin with white bean and broccoli mash
🫛 Pea and Edamame Spread
🍚 Quinoa with Rice (such a good way to introduce quinoa mixed with rice)
🍝 Iron fortified baby pasta

Let’s get the freezers stocked. If you’ve got any ideas I’d love to hear them ⬇️ and if you want these recipes pop “BLOCKS” below and I’ll message you ☺️

🌈 BUDGET BITES EPISODE 4: HEALTHY RAINBOW PADDLE P 🌈 BUDGET BITES EPISODE 4: HEALTHY RAINBOW PADDLE POPS 🌱🍦

Welcome back to Budget Bites: an 8 part series where each week I’m sharing a new recipe recreating kids snacks using healthier and cheaper ingredients than their store bought alternatives.

This week we are recreating the nostalgic Aussie summer classic: Rainbow Paddle Pops 🌈. The store-bought ones are pretty small (68ml), pricey, and full of colours, gums, refined sugar and flavours that aren’t exactly toddler friendly (plus they’re a no-go for vegans and vegetarians as they contain dairy and gelatine). So we made our own: creamy, colourful and naturally sweetened, using only real food ingredients.

And the budget bites savings are good 🙌🏼 The store-bought version costs $1.12 each, while ours come in at just 64 cents per popsicle, and they’re also 1.5x the size. That means these homemade ones are over 2.2x cheaper, with no additives, no artificial colours, and no wasted packaging!

They’re fun to make, and the perfect colourful treat for little ones this summer. If you want the recipe, pop “BUDGET” in the comments (or head straight to my site, linked in bio).

And if you have a snack, dessert or kids’ favourite you want me to recreate next, leave it below ⬇️🤍

🍫 VEGAN SNICKERS CHEESECAKE 🥜 Cheesecake was my f 🍫 VEGAN SNICKERS CHEESECAKE 🥜

Cheesecake was my favourite pre-vegan dessert, and the best way to recreate cheesecake to be vegan friendly (in my opinion) is with cashews 👌🏼

This recipe is a winner with everyone who’s tried or made it. It’s super easy to make, and made with simple, wholefood ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

The recipe is up on my site (link in bio) or comment “SNICKERS” and I’ll send it to you 🍫🥜

🌱 Thought it was time for a “what my 4 year old ea 🌱 Thought it was time for a “what my 4 year old eats in a day” to make a return, and this time I’m adding what I eat too to give some easy and quick ideas for busy parents (because we need fuel too!)

We don’t usually count protein, iron and fibre, but thought it was a nice way to show how much goodness the plants are packing. All up I had 110g of protein, 48.5g of fibre and 32mg of iron. My 4 year old is offered roughly a half portion of what I have and eats 2/3rds of it, more or less depending on the day. Vitamins we use are from @livewisenaturals - been using these since Ava was 12 months (DC: LVE15) 🤍
