If you’re looking for an easy way to add more vegetables to your little one’s meals, these 2 Ingredient Sweet Potato & Broccoli Tots are one of my favourite recipes. They’re incredibly simple, made with just sweet potato and broccoli, and are soft enough for babies from 6 months.

There’s no flour, breadcrumbs, eggs or dairy needed here. Just steam the vegetables until soft, mash them together, shape into little tots and bake until lightly golden. That’s it. Sometimes the simplest recipes really are the ones that get made again and again.
These tots are particularly handy when you’re starting baby-led weaning and want something easy for little hands to pick up and eat independently. The soft texture makes them a great finger food option, while the simple ingredients mean you know exactly what’s going into them.
They’re also a great recipe to batch make. This recipe makes around 14–16 tots, and they freeze really well, so you can have a stash ready for those days when you need something quick. Serve them as part of a meal, alongside other finger foods, or simply as an easy snack.
And while these were originally created with little ones in mind, they’re not just for babies. They make a great vegetable-filled side or snack for toddlers and older kids too. You can even add a little extra flavour for older family members with herbs, spices or vegan cheese.
So if you have some sweet potato and broccoli in the fridge, give these a try. Two ingredients, minimal prep and a freezer-friendly result that makes feeding little ones just a little easier.

2 Ingredient Sweet Potato & Broccoli Tots
Ingredients
- 2 small sweet potato (300g before being peeled; you can use white potato if you prefer)
- 130 g broccoli (large pieces of stalk removed)
- 1 tsp olive oil (to spray, optional)
Instructions
- Peel and dice the sweet potato into small 1cm cubes, and chop the broccoli into florets.
- Steam the vegetables for 10-15 minutes until soft enough to mash (should pierce easily with a fork).
- Mash the sweet potato and broccoli together with a fork.
- Use around 1 Tbsp of the mix to form into tots by rolling in your hands. Repeat for the rest of the mixture (makes around 16 tots)
- Bake in a preheated oven on 180c/350F for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden.
- These taste good warm or cold, so serve however you prefer.
Storage
Store in the fridge for 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for 10 mins, or in the airfryer for 3-5 mins.Notes

I’d definitely line the baking sheet with parchment..mine stuck. Haven’t eaten the. Yet, but they smell good!
I made mine with parchment paper and a little olive oil and they still stuck!
Wonderful recipe! My granddaughter loves them. I did add a little turmeric for flavor and some cooked quinoa for protein. Mine don’t seem to brown as well as yours in the picture. Do you add oil on top or vegan butter? I do follow you on instagram as well. Thank you so much for sharing. Things have changed considerably since my boys were babies. Love that I get to babysit my granddaughter though!!,
