These Apple Pie Bliss Balls are naturally loaded with healthy fats, fibre, protein, omega-3s, calcium & iron, and they taste amazing. They are super quick to make and are a good snack for toddlers and adults.

These are for over 12 months due to them containing dates (although you can give from 6 months if you’re okay with the small sugar content in them, it’s up to you). Dates are such a healthy food with so many vitamins and minerals, however, it’s recommended to wait until over 12 months.

Equipment

  • food processor

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple, cored & diced (we used a pink lady)
  • 1 cup/ 110g of quick oats
  • 1/2 cup/ 65g of hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup/ 25g of unsweetened desiccated coconut
  • 6 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

To Roll

  • 1/4 cup/ 25g of ground flaxseed

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Take a heaping tablespoon of the mix and roll it into a ball in your hands, then roll in the digestion booster to coat. Repeat for around 21 balls.

Notes

You can make this suitable for babies under 12 months by removing the dates from this recipe (due to them containing natural sugar).
Store in the fridge for 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

These turned out very sticky and wet for me (perhaps my apple was too big?) I formed them into balls and put them in the air fryer at 360F for 5 minutes and they turned out great! Lightly toasted on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside!

Love how you made it work for you! It could possibly be the apple, also oats will soak up liquid with time. You can always add extra oats if you ever find after 10 minutes that they are too wet next time also.
